Rayne & Maggie

Big Sur, California

Rayne and Marge’s Big Sur elopement was spread out over two days, giving them the time to actually experience everything without rushing through it.

I had photographed their proposal two years earlier in Colorado, and they told me then they wanted me there for their elopement. Being part of both moments made this one feel even more full circle.

We started at their Airbnb with a quiet, peaceful morning before heading out to explore the road just outside. From there, we made our way to Pfeiffer Beach, where the sun stayed out all day and gave us a completely different feel than the typical foggy Big Sur weather.

Later on, we went into Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and spent time in the redwoods, slowing things down and taking it all in.

The next day, we headed to Garrapata State Park and hiked Soberanes Point Trail, stopping along the way before ending at the beach for sunset. They set up a picnic with champagne, cake, and strawberries, and we wrapped the day there as the sun went down.

No tight timeline, no rushing between locations, just two days of exploring Big Sur and taking their time with it.
